State department of health and family welfare announced the appointment of 201 nurses and 157 doctors for Lakhimpur Medical College at an event for ceremonial distribution of appointment letters held at the auditorium of Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in Assam on Thursday.
Addressing the event, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said: “Today, we have reclaimed a dream of establishing a hospital in Lakhimpur by assigning health workers with a plan to start the treatment facilities from the month of November.” Sarma said that two new government medical colleges have come up this year, namely Diphu Medical College Hospital and Lakhimpur Medical College Hospital
